Airport will receive $2.14M in FAA grant

By NEIL YOUNG The Daily News | Posted: Thursday, May 29, 2014 11:54 pm BULLHEAD CITY — District 4 U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Prescott, announced Wednesday that Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport will receive a $2.14 million Federal Aviation Administration grant for Phase 2 of the airport’s rehabilitation of its taxiway.
“We as rural folks really need air service. We need to have the same rights and access for emergencies,” Gosar said.
The airport “really helps us in the aspect of commerce and keeping business around and allowing people to have the vital services that they need,” Gosar said.
“He’s been really helpful to us because he fought the battle in Congress to keep our contract towers (which the federal government was going to de-fund),” said Jeremy Keating, airport director. “He’s been a really, really positive advocate for airports.”
Phase 1 has been completed at a cost of $3.5 million. Phase 2 will cost roughly the same amount, Keating said.
