With Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport
Special to The Mississippi Press
BILOXI, Mississippi – The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and the Gulf Coast Business Council recently co-hosted an air service roundtable at the Biloxi Visitors Center.
Presentations were heard by United, Delta, American and Sun County Airlines representatives regarding the Mississippi Gulf Coast economy and future prospect for increased development.
“This forum provided a great opportunity for the airlines to learn more about the diverse economic mix we have in South Mississippi,” said Clay Williams, Executive Director of the airport. “Having a better understanding of our market aids airline network planners in scheduling the existing service at the airport and also affords them the opportunity to evaluate the potential for new service offerings.”
Airline representatives received a broad overview of information from a variety of industries ranging from shipbuilding, tourism, gaming and conventions to military installations and other federal contractors.
“Air travel is critically important to the future development of our region and the Gulfport-Biloxi Airport supports this development both from a leisure and business travel standpoint,” said Jack Norris, President of the Gulf Coast Business Council. “To maintain a thriving economy, we must have convenient and easy access to air travel.”
In addition to the major economic industries across the Mississippi Gulf Coast, airline representatives learned more about the development of this market as a festival destination. Participants received updates on Peter Anderson Arts and Crafts Festival, Gulfport Music Festival, Christmas at Beauvoir’s Lighting of the trees and more.
