Northern Rockies Airport gets $300,000 in funding

The new runway sweeper at the Northern Rockies AirportThe Northern Rockies Regional Airport has received $300,000 in funding for two safety improvement projects from the Federal Government.

MP for Prince George – Peace River Bob Zimmer, made the announcement Saturday at the Northern Rockies Regional Airport in Fort Nelson. The funding will go towards a new runway sweeper and a runway condition reporting system.
“We are very excited to have this new sweeper to further enhance our runway maintenance at the airport,” said Bill Streeper, Mayor of the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality. “This type of equipment is essential to ensure that our airport is prepared for the significant growth and development expected in our region.”
The new sweeper will help keep the runway clear and the runway condition reporting system will provide timely, accurate and precise wireless reporting and recording of runway conditions.

To date, the Northern Rockies Regional Airport has received more than $4.4 million for 10 projects, from the Federal Government.
