AOPA Summit Draws Large Numbers to the Desert

The Aircraft Owners and Pilot’s Association (AOPA) Summit returned to Palm Springs, California last week bringing more than 10,000 attendees to the valley. The summit is the city’s largest convention showcasing more than 75 airplanes parked on the streets around the convention center and more than 10,000 attendees filling up local hotels and restaurants.

Cirrus Aircraft had two large displays, one inside and one outside.

New Medevac Helicopters Accepted at Ceremony

Maryland Governor O’Malley and the Maryland State Police Aviation Division accepted on Friday the first of ten $12.6 million AugustaWestland AW139 medevac helicopters at the Aviation Division Headquarters at Martin State Airport outside Baltimore.

Shreveport’s new airports director outlines his vision

While explaining his plans for Shreveport Regional Airport, the city’s new airports director pauses and turns to see a roaring charter jet taxi out to the runway. “I’m sorry,” he says, gazing out the window. “I just knew that what I was hearing was bigger than anything that should be here right now.”

Gov reimburses state for plane usage

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has repaid about $10,000 for using state planes to attend news conferences and bill signings, after The Associated Press informed her of a rule against that.
