Cyber Threats, Financial Schemes, Real Estate and Mortgage Fraud to Lead Topics at White Collar Crime Conference
Frank Abagnale, Author of “Catch Me If You Can” to Present Keynote
PHOENIX, AZ – A one-day conference on White Collar Crime will bring key components of Arizona’s regulatory leadership together with FBI subject matter experts and a nationally recognized expert on forgery and embezzlement. The conference is presented by Arizona InfraGard in partnership with the FBI and the InfraGard National Members Alliance.
With focus on Arizona’s real estate and financial markets an interactive panel will feature Judy Lowe, Commissioner, Arizona Department of Real Estate; Robert Charlton, Assistant Superintendent, Arizona Department of Financial Institutions; and, Dena Benjamin, Chief Counsel, Consumer Protection and Advocacy Section of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. The panel will be moderated by Frank Grimmelmann, President of Arizona InfraGard. A Q&A will follow the discussion.
The FBI will present multiple discussions and analysis within the white collar crime framework, including a remote presentation via Skype by Shawn Henry, Retired FBI Executive Assistant Director. His presentation on “Cyber Threats and White Collar Crime” will precede an overview of White Collar Crime by Supervisory Special Agent Stephen Belongia. Additional presentations to be led by the FBI focus on mortgage and corporate fraud and advance fee schemes, presented by FBI Special Agents Eric Spingler and Swalomir Janik, respectively.
Mr. Abagnale’s keynote, “The Art of the Steal” will focus on the confidence man and his art – in order to avoid becoming a victim of fraud. Abagnale strongly believes that recovery of stolen funds is so rare today that prevention is the only viable course of action. Abagnale is known as one of the world’s most respected authorities on check fraud, embezzlement and secure documents.
The conference, “Catch Us If You Can – An Insider’s Look at How White Collar Crime may Affect You in Ways You May Not Suspect ” is scheduled for October 2, from 8am-5pm. It will be held at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino in Chandler, AZ. Conference registration will include a continental breakfast from 7am-8am and lunch at mid-day.
