Airport shuttle service to leave downtown Eau Claire

Eau Claire (Press Release) – The Chippewa Valley Airport Service has announced that it will vacate their downtown headquarters at the Ramada Convention Center and build a 9,000 square foot travel center on their existing West Terminal property off Hwy 312 near Interstate 94.
The move, which is expected to take effect in August or September, is an effort to consolidate two Eau Claire pick-up and drop-off locations as well as a separate office, according to General Manager Dan Pekol.
Pekol says that departures from the new location will save on fuel and eliminate their rent payment, allowing them to keep customer rates steady despite rising gas prices. “We’ll also have the ability to offer more customer amenities when we have a building of our own”, he said.
Planned amenities include a large customer waiting area, increased parking at no charge, restroom facilities, Wi-Fi, television and computer access, vending, and a kiosk to print boarding passes.
Reservation staff will also be on-site to assist customers, something currently not available at their un-manned West Terminal location.
Chippewa Valley Airport Service believes this move will be an easy transition for most customers because the majority of people arrive by automobile. “We’ve already seen a large percentage of our Eau Claire customers switch to our west-side location since the City of Eau Claire increased rates last year for parking in the downtown ramp,” Pekol said.
Chippewa Valley Airport Service has approximately 40 employees and operates 11 round-trip shuttles to and from the Minneapolis Airport from Eau Claire, Menomonie, Baldwin, and Hudson. The company recently made news by acquiring the Rice Lake Shuttle Service in January.
