Plea deal expected for NY man accused in TSA case

Associated Press

BUFFALO, N.Y. ā€” A New York man arrested in a drug case that sent an airport security screener to prison is due in federal court.
Derek Frank is expected to enter a plea deal with the government during a hearing Friday in Buffalo.

Frank was indicted last year on charges of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute it. He initially pleaded not guilty.
Authorities say the Buffalo man would carry thousands of dollars of cash on drug-buying trips from Buffalo to Arizona, relying on a Transportation Safety Administration agent to help him get the money past airport security. The TSA agent, Minnetta Walker, was sentenced last month to two years in prison.

Investigators say Frank would buy marijuana in Arizona and then mail it back to Buffalo to be sold.
