Smith Reynolds awarded $1.85 million in federal block grant funds

Smith Reynolds Airport has been awarded $1.85 million in federal block grant money from the N.C. Division of Aviation for a taxiway improvement project. “Rehabilitation of this pavement is critical to the corporate end user of the airport,” said Richard Walls, (shown at right) the N.C. Department of Transportation’s director of aviation.

Able Engineering Breaks Ground for MRO at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport

A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week for what will be the largest facility and private employer to-date at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The City of Mesa and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority recently reached agreement with Able Engineering to operate the facility.

2012 Aviation Art Contest Winners Announced

A total of 169 Virginia artists ages 6 to 18 participated in the 2012 International Aviation Art Contest. The theme this year was “Silent Flight”.

State House passes aviation tax exemption

The Idaho House of Representatives has unanimously passed a bill exempting aircraft parts, supplies, and other components from the state’s sales and use tax. The bill, strongly supported by AOPA and the general aviation community, is now headed for Senate committee.
